For 45 years I have been researching the background of the Roma and Gypsy people and their possible connection to the lost tribes of Israel. I realised early on that the fate of the Roma and Jews throughout history and the hatred, persecution, extermination and eventual genocide they faced was no accident. Current DNA research has begun to shed more and more light on this issue, as I know that thousands of Roma have already been DNA tested and discovered their Jewish ancestry. This also led me as an adult to do DNA research, which confirmed my own background. My grandmother was Jewish and belonged to the Leev family. The question of the Roma's Israeli ancestry is still a very difficult and sensitive issue for the Council of Jewish Genealogical Research. They have been sent evidence on the matter as early as 2008, but the issue was pushed aside and forgotten because the Roma, or gypsies, have been despised, if possible, even more than the Jews. Their fate was pushed aside in the N¨ürenbefg war trial and also a little over than 12 years ago when a letter was sent to the Jewish Rabbinical Council asking them to recognise the Roma as part of a lost tribe. However, God will not forget!
