A los responsables de los premios Nobel:
Me dirijo a ustedes para expresarles mi preocupación sobre la idea deteriorada y errónea de Paz que uno de sus nobeles está transmitiendo al mundo. Suponen, y hacen bien, que hablo de Barack H. Obama, designado premio Nobel de la Paz en 2009 y, por tanto, considerado defensor y ejemplo de la misma.
Ahora bien, el concepto de paz definido en su forma más sencilla es el de “ausencia de guerra”. Comprenderán entonces que aquella persona que apoye, instigue o, como en este caso, dirija un acto bélico cuyo propio título “Guerra de Irak” no hace más que tirar por tierra cualquier incipiente idea de paz que uno pudiera tener, no puede ser nombrado representante de ésta.
Pero hagamos un esfuerzo por comprender lo incomprensible y olvidémonos de tecnicismos lingüísticos. Lo que yo entiendo es que la violación sistemática de los derechos humanos; la tortura; la arbitrariedad con que los mismos actos son considerados ora terrorismo, ora justicia; la degradación de la vida a un simple “daño colateral” privándola de su legislada igualdad; el negar la justicia en nombre de la propia justicia; el celebrar un asesinato o el cometerlo son hechos válidos y más que necesarios para la paz. Es más, ¡son en nombre de la misma! El fin justifica los medios: la paz justifica la guerra.
Bien, pues no lo he entendido. ¿Cómo podemos explicarles a los familiares de las víctimas de la guerra (y a nosotros mismos) que el hombre que ha ordenado matarles es uno de los máximos veladores de la paz en el mundo? ¿Qué se puede entender de la paz si lleva asociada la muerte? ¿Debo tal vez olvidar ese “ausencia de guerra” y definirlo ahora como “aquel estado de bienestar para unos pocos”? ¿Estamos capitalizando la paz?
Espero que no. Por todo esto les pido que le sea retirado el premio Nobel a Barak. H. Obama.

Members of the Nobel Prize committee:
I am writing to you in order to express my deep concern about the mistaken and deteriorated idea of Peace that one of you Nobel laureates is transmitting to the world. You might suspect, and you would be right, that this regards Barack H. Obama, awarded the Nobel Prize in Peace last 2009 and considered, ever since, an example of a peace defender.
However, I cannot but experience some confusion. ‘Peace’ defined at its simplest is the ‘absence of war’. You may then agree with me that any person who might support, fuel or approve of war, let alone lead one, cannot be appointed a “peace representative”. How can a Peace Nobel Prize laureate be head of an operation entitled “Irak War”?
But let us leave linguistic technicalities aside and make an effort to understand the incomprehensible. What I understand is a systematic violation of human rights, torture, how arbitrarily certain acts are considered now terrorism, now justice, the underestimation of certain lives, considering them as a “collateral damage” and refusing them the legislated equality they enjoy, the negation of justice in the name of this same justice, meaningly celebrating or committing any murder is acceptable and valid if it leads to peace, if it is in the name of peace!. The end justifies the means: peace justifies war.
I am sorry but I do NOT understand it. How can we explain to the families of war victims (and to ourselves) that the man who ordered their deaths is one of the world’s most important peace watchers? What can be expected of peace if death is one of its accessories? Should we forget about the “absence of war” concept and redefine it as “social welfare for the minority ‘that matters’? Are we capitalizing peace?
I honestly hope not. This is why I ask you that Mr. Obama be deprived of a prize he just proved unworthy of.
